I Know That Voice

This evening we went to Andrea's OB checkup. Dr Cropper immediately beamed upon seeing Garrett and held him for a picture. After our horrible experience with her partner, Andrea and I had both wondered if our expectations for the experience with Dr Cropper had been wrong, if it would have been more like the actual experience. However, this visit completely convinced us that it would have been a really positive experience if Dr Cropper had been delivering. Not that it changes what happened, but it was yet another confirmation to trust our instincts.

We spent quite a bit of the visit explaining our experience. Dr Cropper was appauled to hear about some of the things we described. We had prepared a short description of our experience that we left with her so she has the option to discuss it with her partner. She also informed us that the policy at the hospital is to call in another anaesthesiologist if the wait is longer than half an hour. Since Andrea waited about 3 hours, this is clearly in violation of that policy. Dr Cropper encouraged us to write a letter to the hospital administration and I think we will.

The entire time that Dr Cropper was holding Garrett he was staring at her, as though trying to remember her. I think he must know her voice from the pregnancy. It's amazing how much babies can absorb from the womb.
